MAN OF GLASS
Let's raise our hands in prayer
That another day of our life is over.
Let's thank God that again today
No incident occurred
That demanded truth
Or put our conscience to the test.
Let's thank God that today also
Passed as usual. Got up early,
Had our tea, read the paper,
And at the breakfast table,
Constantly validated our cleverness.
Returned safely as the evening fell,
And with that obscure dread of the next day,
Carefully placed in the bed our self,
Marked "Fragile," "With Care," "This Way Up.'
CONFIDENCE
The arrogant wind said,
"You are only a particle; I'll blow you away.'
A wave surged forward and said,
"You are just a straw; I'll float you away."
A flame of fierce fire said,
"I'll burn you away."
And the land said, "I'll swallow you up."
I tore the veil from my face,
Laughed, and said, "I am Solomon,
Son of Adam; I am a man."
