Frances R. Pritchett is now teaching at Columbia University.

Her book on the qissa literature in Urdu and Hindi will be published by Manohar (Delhi) in 1984.

Munibur Rahman (b. 1918) is a highly respected poet in Urdu, who prefers to publish most frugally. His first collection, Bazdid, appeared in 1965; a second collection, §ahr-e Gumnam, is expected this year. He has also translated into Urdu two plays by Shakespeare ("Julius Caesar" and "Antony and Cleopatra"). He is associate professor in the Dept. of Modern Languages at Oakland University. His book, Post-Revolution Persian Verse (Aligarh, 1955), is still the major work in English on that subject.

Annemarie Schimmel is professor of Indo-Muslim Studies at Harvard University and the author of more than a dozen books on various aspects of Sufism, Islamic Literature, Islamic Art, and Urdu Literature, including Gabriel's wing (Iqbal), Pain & Grace (Khwaja Mir Dard), and A Dance of Sparks (Ghalib).
