JSAL, established in 1963, is dedicated to the publication and dissemination of South Asian literatures—classical, medieval, and modern—through the medium of English translation. To date a total of 15 volumes of the Journal have appeared; these contain over 2,000 individual translations of poetry, short stories, plays, and novellas, as we11 as interviews, critical essays, review articles, book reviews, bibliographical studies and other news and information connected with the serious study of South Asian literature. Membership in CASAL is available on an institutional as well as individual basis. INSTITUTIONAL MEMBERSHIP in CASAL is $200 per year. Membership in this category includes a one-year subscription to JSAL for the institution's library. The name of the institution wi11 be listed in the Journal in the SPONSOR category.
