The Qazi of Hamadan and the Farrier s Son
The Illustration above is reproduced from an edition of Sa di s Guhstan, published in 1886 by the Newal Kishore Press, Lucknow, apparently as a prestige edition It was calligraphed by Muhammad Shamsuddm I Jaz Raqam , who earlier had been the chief calligrapher in the press of the Kings of Awadh, the illustrations were done by Shaikh Qayim All 'Naqqash , the best miniaturist in Lucknow at the time, and the entire production was supervised by Maulvi Abdul All Asi , the chief proof-reader at the press, who also wrote an elaborate tacfnz to the book
