30. Ashish Rajadhyaksha, "The Phaike Era: Conflict of Traditional Form and Modern Technology', Journal of Arts and Ideas, Nos. 14-15, July-Dec. 1987, pp. 59-64. Rajadhyaksha's conceptual framework for inscribing Ravi Varma's iconic images into technological forms is brilliant and far-reaching.

31. In 1884 Sir T. Madhava Rao had suggested to Ravi Varma that he get his work oleographed to satisfy the great demand in the country. Ravi Varma launched a Lithographic Press in Bombay in 1894. The project went through many vicissitudes but it is reckoned that 89 pictures of Ravi Varma went in for printing in the next several years. See, Venniyoor, op. dt., p. 30, pp. 33-41. g0 32. Executed in 1947-48, this 100-foot fresco is situated in Hindi Bhavan, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan.
