account of reality is mediated through ideology. The rival and radically different ideological perception ofBabusaheb is not passed over, but worked out in detail. The resulting juxtaposition provides at once a total and integrated picture of the divided world—historically or politically the two ideological perceptions are irreconcilable, but it is the prerogative of art to embody the problematic reality which holds opposites together.
