PRAYOGVADL POEMS. .

Govinda Chandra Pande

EViiNIHG, SHALL HOUSES, PIA1TTAIN TBEES

Evening spreading like so much smoke, the day sealing this hour

on the lake^ deep. The silvered taste pencils a picture,

a peeking moon. Houses of cards build around, umbrellas of palms,

long, broad oyster leaves open, Arms thicken and droop.

(Trans. by Leonard ^, Nathan & V, N. Misra)

LAKE

Beep of water, green dark

of amaranth. Opening lotus, blueness and

the red tint. Temples as elephants, two trunks, their gait

magnificent.

(Trans. by Leonard Bi. Nathan & V. N. Misra)
