and they met

like light inside light

and Rama was riding a hill

with four white tusks all ablaze

and Lakshamana with him and they approached

in fluttering waves of white and dazzling burning flowers and she flew up to him

and they touched and her hands flew further up

to touch the sun and moon

one for each

and they stayed there unmoving high over Lanka

And again in a dream 1 saw Rama

bathed in shining white folds

and flying flowers and Lakshamana with him

in a chariot pulled by eight white bulls And 1 saw that wonderful Rama

his greatness and power with his brother Lakshamana

and with Sita fly in their burning chariot of flowers

to the end of the sky

Then 1 saw Ravana

in black cloth oily and the hair shaved off his heads

smashed drunk and drinking still

crooked flowers around his necks and he fell from a fiery chariot

onto the ground and a woman dragged him around

Then I saw him sitting in a chariot

pulled by donkeys and he was wearing red

his body smeared red and drinking

laughing and weaving around his heads on backwards

his eyes backwards in his heads

his words backwards and sideways flying to the other end of the sky
