OPERATION POWER

To Solve the Power Crisis in West Bengal

Yes, today West Bengal can transcend itself to a second good era. WBSEB, has taken a serious pledge to redeem the power crisis and bring back prosperity to the state.

MORE POWER GENERATION:

Several new power stations have been conimissioned during the past five years by WBSEB to meet the power demands of the state. A 210 MW thermal power unit at Bandel has been successfully commissioned ^during 1983-84 and in the same period another 8 MW hydel power station atjaldhaka has started power generation Work on the massive 3X210 MW power station at Kolaghat is now progressing fast. One unit of this power station has already been synchronised and the remaining two units to be commissioned within 1985 will generate 100 MW of power. Construction work for 3 more 210 MW units at Kolaghat is being taken up shortly.

ELECTRIFICATION:

WBSEB, hopes to provide new connection to over 1 lakh consumers this year and thus wipe out the backlog of all pending applications to all categories of consumer. WBSEB will provide electricity to more villages and energise 10,000 pumpsets for irrigation purposes.

PEOPLE'S PARTICIPATION;

Committees have been set up at the district and electric supply level where the local representatives are included as members. These committees wiU he helping by their advice to the Board to achieve the target of rural electrification programme.
