NAFED

The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAPED) is the National body of 29 State and over 3500 marketing societies in India.

NAFED undertakes marketing of all primary and processed agricultural commodities by intra-state, inter-state and International trade to protect the interests of growers and consumers ;

It handles agricultural commodities such as foodgrains, pulses, oil and oilseeds, cotton, jute, forest produce, poultry, agricultural inputs, fresh, dry and processed fruits and vegetables ;

Undertakes supply and distribution of essential commodities in the deficit areas and intervenes in the market to ensure fair prices to the consumers.

The Government of India has appointed NAFED as the canalising agency for providing support price to the farmers for oilseeds, etc., as also for undertaking export of onion, nigerseed, sesame seed, HPS Groundnut etc. ;

Runs factories for fruits and vegetable processing at Delhi, Vellore besides owning cold storage, godowns, dal mills in the country.
