comparisons are insignificant on their part, it may be concluded that they are not too aware of all the political parties and public personalities and events. This is supported by the findings of Hyman and Sheatsley8 who have described the 'hard core5 familiar with virtually nothing political as follows: ^In almost every instance where the polls have tested public information, at least 20 per cent of the population have revealed complete ignorance55.

In short, the following conclusions may be drawn from the findings of this study: (1) Students and teachers have preferred thejansangh. Students' perceptions indicate that the middle class where most of students come from, is in favour of the old political system; (2) Farmers seem to be ambiguous and ignorant about their political identification. There is ^ some confusion among them about the programmes and policies of parties; (3) The business community seems to be more inclined towards
