books. Fateh Pur Sikri was damaged to find out if there were Hindu constructions below it. Towards Freedom Project is not being published because RSS is not included as Nationalists. Almost every single body they are filling with their own nominees including ICSSR and Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla.

There is a concerted attempt to deny the composite cultural heritage of the Indian people, and the deliberate obliteration of the contributions of the dalits, the Dravidians, and the tribes in the making of Indian culture. "The imaginary claims of Sangh Parivar historians about the Aryan civilization, and that Homo Sapiens originated in the upper reaches of the Saraswati river, brings them close to the Nazi ethnocentric ideology". A large part of the 'research9 that goes into making these claims is part creation of foreigners and NRIs of "strange credentials', who think that the more ancient one gets the more claim there is to authenticity.

On the basis of fraudulent arguments and concocted evidence they push back the dates for Aryans to almost 5000 EC, identify the Indus civilization as Aryan, originating around an imaginary Saraswati river to justify their changed nomenclature for the Indus-Harappan civilization as Saraswati-Sindhu civilization, and even create distorted computer images of early seals to "discover95 a horse to buttress their contentions, none of which have any basis in reality.

If one were to go by what they say, all knowledge has its roots in the Vedas, and everything of value was first discovered by these "indigenous" Indians. Thus bronze was being "cast" in India as early as 3700 BC, Indians taught Egyptians to build pyramids and so on!

Through this obsession with showing every achievement of mankind to have been contained in the Vedas, the Sangh Parivar is denying the achievements and contributions of other ancient Indian scientists, of Buddhism and Jainism, apart from Muslims, though a strong expression of hatred towards Muslims is an essential element in "history writing". Since the so called threat from Muslims was crucial to their support to the British during the freedom struggle, medieval history in turn needed to be shaped by them to present "two nations always at war, one brutally assaulting, the other nobly defending". Preeminent in their discourse, therefore, is the image of Muslims as foreigners, destructive barbarians and immoral degenerates, more specifically, destroyers of temples.

Our country can ill afford such distortion of history, he concluded. For this reason the RSS's conspiracy against history is a matter of concern for every citizen of India.
