The authors of "'Health Care Services" (Social Scientist 58-59) wish to acknowledge that the article is a revision of one which originally appeared in World Development, vol 3, nos 7/8 (July/August 1975) 'Special Issue on China's Road to Development* under the title "The Development of Health Care Services in the People's Republic of China". The inadvertent omission to mention this when the article appeared in the Social Scientist (May-June 1977) Special Number on China is regretted.
