mean scores of caste prejudice than all other castes in the urban area while Vaisyas come out with the least. Significant differences emerge when the four areas of prejudice are separately taken into account.

Brahmins

Table II reveals that Brahmin students differ significantly in 24 comparisons out of total 30 made for this purpose (20 at <.01 and 4 at <.05). In most of these;, Brahmin boys have the highest mean scores of caste prejudice (See also table I.) The overall means scores, too, tell the same story. All the six CRs are significant (4 at Z .01 and 2 at Z .05 levels). Brahmin students however do not diper significantly in the following area-wise comparisons: Brahmin-Bhumihar in PSEG and EEI;

Brahmin-Rajput in PQ; Brahmin-Kayastha in EEI,, Brahmin-Backward and Brahmin-Harijan in PSEG. Vaisya students are found differing in all areas of prejudice from the Brahmin. When significant differences in the prejudice scores of Brahmins with other castes are ranked (Table II) they can be placed in the following order: Vaisyas (5 areas); Rajputs, Kayasthas, Backwards and Harijans (4 areas); and Bhumihars (3 areas).

Bhumihars

When Bhumihar students are compared to the remaining six castes., they differ significantly from the Rajput,, Brahmin, Kayastha Vaisya, Backward, and Harijan colleagues in 4,3,3,3,1 and 1 comparisons
