What is important, supremely important, is that both China and the USSR are producing commodities which is leading to certain dialectical contradictions. Had Balibar correctly analysed the achievements of the transitional period, he would have been in a better position to give the warning that there existed the danger of straying away from the final objective of Communism.
It may be said that while Balibar succeeds in demolishing the reasoning of the present-day European opponents of the dictatorship of the proletariat,he does not meet with the same success when he interprets Marxist-Leninist theory on the dictatorship of the proletariat, the transitional period and socialism.
