The Maráṭhás collected it, and divided it as follows. One-fourth, or twenty-five per cent., was appropriated by the head of the Maráṭhá state, and was called राजबाबती; from the remainder, termed मोकासा, there was deducted a sum equal to six per cent. (साहोत्रा) of the whole चौथ, and this was assigned to the पंतसचिव. The remainder, equal to sixty-nine per cent. of the चौथ, termed ऐनमो- कासा, was partitioned, on certain conditions, among the Sirdars. In some districts there was, besides the साहोत्रा a sum equal to three per cent. on the whole चौथ deducted from the मोकासा, and named नाडगौंडा. Very numerous subdivisions of the चौथ have since been made.
