During the three years I901-3, the annual value of the Value of
imports into India of minerals and products directly obtained imported
minerals
from minerals averaged £IO,I58,252; and this is exclu- and
sive of glassware, earthenware, porcelain, hardware, cutlery, mineral
machinery, millwork, and railway plant, of which the value is, products.
of course, very much greater than that of the materials from
which they are manufactured. The value of these articles
would add almost -£8,ooo,ooo sterling to the sums detailed in
the following table, which shows the values declared for im-
ported simple minerals and direct mineral products, nearly all
of which are represented among the known resources of
India:-
