Mozambique people paid dearly in the form of overt acts of aggression by the Smith regime in so-called punishment or "hot pursuit" raids against villages deep inside Mozambique.

Inter-African solidarity sounds the death knell for the racist minority regimes and other client regimes that depend on them. The victories of the peoples of Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau and more recently Zimbabwe have thus radically and irreversibly transformed the situation in the rest of southern Africa.
