ஊற்று¹ வி. (ஊற்ற, ஊற்றி) 1: (நீர் முதலிய திரவப் பொருள்களை) கீழே சாய்த்து வழியவிடுதல்; வார்த்தல்; pour (water or other liquids). பேனாவில் மை ஊற்று./ அவர் கண்ணாடிக் குவளையில் மது ஊற்றும் அழகே தனி. 2: (செடிகளுக்கு நீரை) பாய்ச்சுதல்; விடுதல்; water (the plants). செடிகளுக்குத் தண்ணீர் ஊற்றினாயா? 3: (தயாரிக்கும் முறையாக அததற்கு உரியவற்றில்) வார்த்தல்; pour (sth. for making sth.). ஐந்தாவது தோசை ஊற்றுகிறேன்./ இட்லி ஊற்றாமல் எங்கே போனாய்? 4: (எதிர்பாராத முறையில்) சிந்துதல்; spill; splash. அரிசி வடிக்கும்போது கஞ்சியைக் காலில் ஊற்றிக்கொண்டு துடித்துப்போனாள். 5: அதிக அளவில் வெளிவருதல்; (மழை) பொழிதல்; come out excessively; (of rain) pour down. வெட்டுக்காயத்திலிருந்து இரத்தம் ஊற்றியது./ வானம் கிழிந்தது போல் மழை ஊற்றியது.

ஊற்று² பெ. 1: (நிலத்திலிருந்து வரும்) நீர்ச் சுரப்பு; spring (of a well, pond, etc.). கிணற்றில் ஊற்று வற்றிவிட்டது./ [உரு வ.] அவர் ஞான ஊற்று 2: மேல்நோக்கிப் பீச்சும் நீர்; fountain.

ஊற்று , s. a spring, source of a well. நாற்று ஊற்றிலிருந்துபோயிற்று, the plants are spoiled by too much rain or water. ஊற்றடைக்க, to stop or choke a spring. ஊற்றாம்பெட்டி, ஊற்றாம்பாளை, the bladder. ஊற்றுக்கண், the opening where from the water springs forth; the orifice of a spring. ஊற்றுக்குழி, a hole made in the ground for gathering water. ஊற்றுநீர், spring water. ஊற்று வெட்ட, -நோண்ட, to dig a pit for getting water.

ஊற்று , III. v. t. pour, let flow, சிந்து; 2. pour in large quantities. pour out, empty out, ஊற்றிப்போடு; 3. express (as oil). கொட்டைமுத்து ஊற்ற, to extract oil from ricinus seeds by boiling them in water after they have been bruised. ஊற்றெண்ணை, ஊற்றின எண்ணை, oil extracted by pressing or pounding seeds.

ஊற்று² ūṟṟu , n. < ஊறு-. [T. ūṭa, K. ūṭe, Tu. ūṭi.] 1. Flowing, gushing forth, as blood from an artery, milk from the udder; pouring of rut from a must elephant; சுரக்கை. ஊற்றிருந்த மும்மதத் தோடையானை (சீவக. 152). 2. Spring, fountain; நீரூற்று. வல்லூற் றுவரில் கிணற்றின்கண் (நாலடி, 263). 3. Moisture oozing from the ground; கசிவு. ஊற்றுடை நெடுவரை (சீவக. 278).

ஊற்று³ ūṟṟu , n. < ஊன்று-. 1. Staff; ஊன்று கோல். (சூடா.) 2. Prop, support; பற்றுக்கோடு. உடம்புயிர்க் கூற்றாக (கலித். 146).

ஊற்று , s. A spring, a fountain, source, நீரூற்று. 2. Dampness rising from the ground in the wet season, ஈரம். ஊற்றடைக்க, inf. To be choked up as a spring, or source. 2. To stop or choke a spring. ஊற்றுக்கண், s. The aperture whence water springs, the orifice of a spring, ஊற்றுவாய். ஊற்றுக்குழி, s. A hole in the ground for gathering water, ஊற்றுப்பள்ளம். ஊற்றுநீர், s. Spring-water. ஊற்றுப்பெயர, inf. To spring, flow newly–as a fountain into a well, ஊற்றுண்டாக. ஊற்றுவெட்டல்–ஊற்றுத்தோண்டல், v. noun. Digging for water. ஊற்றெடுக்க, inf. To spring up, or issue freely and plentifully, ஊற்றுப்பெருக. ஊற்றெடுக்கமழைபெய்தது. It rained so as to cause the water to flow from the land.

ஊற்று , கிறேன், ஊற்றினேன், வேன், ஊற்ற, v. a. To pour, to let flow, spill, சிந்த. 2. To express (oils, &c.), ஏண்ணெயூற்ற. 3. To pour in large quantities, pour, or cast out as useless, to empty, or clear a vessel of its contents, ஊற்றிப்போட. நாற்றுஊற்றிருந்துபோச்சுது. The plants are spoiled by too much rain or water. ஊற்றுண்ண, v. n. To be poured out. 2. To be spilled, to ooze out, leak out. கலயத்தில்நீரெல்லாமூற்றுண்டுபோயிற்று. All the water that was in this vessel has been spilt. ஊற்றுப்பூ, s. [prov.] The refuse of the kernel of the cocoanut after the oil is expressed, தேங்காய்ப்பிண்ணாக்கு. ஊற்றுப்பெட்டி, s. [prov.] The basket in which the seeds, kernels, &c. are put for expressing oil, ஏண்ணெயூற்றும் பெட்டி. ஊற்றுமரம், s. A kind of oil-press, ஏண்ணெயூற்றுமரம். 2. The cylinder or shaft in an oil-press, செக்குலக்கை.
